Abstract

Technology and the internet are the two fastest growing factors that have changed the way people communicate, share the information, and participate in daily life affairs. Digital platforms are becoming more and more popular among people, hence, the digital literacy skills and the online security needs to be promoted in order to move safely within the digital world. This article aims to study the digital literacy concepts, relations with online safety and acknowledge the fact that you have to get a grasp on digital technologies, make a conscious review of online content, and ensure the security of your personal information and privacy. The study peruses the theoretical and practical framework on digital literacy and cybersecurity to highlight the fact that more holistic educational programs must be advanced to enable people to use digital platforms responsibly. This paper emphasizes the various challenges and risks associated with digital participation including hacking, false information, and online identity theft while underscoring the role of all stakeholders, namely educators, parents, and policymakers, in promoting digital literacy and fostering a safe cyberspace. Through increasing digital literacy and expanding online safety knowledge, people will be equipped with the skills necessary to use digital technologies fully, while reducing the likelihood of risks. They will be capable of navigating the complicated digital environment confidently and successfully.
