Abstract
In the present time, the existence of new pedagogical methods has made personalized learning one of the most innovative approaches that are intended to cater to the personal needs and preferences of each learner. The core of personalized learning is the micro-lessons that are short and focused instructional modules that have specific learning objectives and the purpose to deliver them in a way that is efficient. This paper discusses the principles, advantages, difficulties, and consequences of the micro-lessons which are the micro-lessons at the time of the personalized learning. The facts are, personalized learning is based on the principles of individualization, learner agency and competency-based progression, thus, it tries to create a better learning environment and learning outcomes by making the instruction according to the different needs and learning styles of every student. Micro-lessons are the key instrument in obtaining these aims, giving the learners the bite-sized, digestible content which can be consumed by themselves and according to their own learning goals. Micro-lessons are creating content in short, focused bursts that are the very thing that learners attention spans need to be sustained because it promotes sustained interest and motivation. Besides, the modular structure of micro-lessons means that the pace and the content mastery can be adjusted according to the learner's preference and whenever needed, the learner can revisit the concepts easily. Even though the micro-lessons have their advantages, the difficulties that the teachers have to face while designing the content and the technology are provided for everyone at once remain as the main obstacles for them. Teachers are the key factor in the personalization of learning by using micro-lessons they can utilize the data-driven insights, give them the feedback at the right time and also help them to overcome the problems which they face while learning. The continuous professional development is very important to give teachers the skills and knowledge to be able to use micro-lessons as the best possible learning tools within the personalized learning environments. Finally, micro-lessons are considered to be a very promising way of personalized learning that can change the traditional teaching methods and thus provide more motivating and effective learning experiences that are according to the different needs of the present learners.
